Yes, the hang loose moto and stay relaxed attitude culture came from California beach life, but originated from the Hawaiian surfer expos. All that "Bill and Ted" language and woooooowww duuuude stufff that swept the 80's came from the west coast of America via Hawaii. Surfing itself, is a Polynesian passtime, orginating mainly in Hawaii.

Things from the Hawaiian surfer cultures in the 80's:

-The hang loose hand sign

-The hang loose mind set

-The long hair with beach comb highlights

-surfer shorts

-Surfing sport

-cargo shorts

-friendship bracelets

-ankle tattoos

-flip flops trends
